Thoughts

Some random thoughts from today, January 8th, 2007:

*The White Stripes are a very good band. I am currently listening to all the songs on my iPod in alphabetical order (by artist name) and am onto the Ws as of today. It's been a many-months-long process and the end is near. I started with over 11,000 songs and now only have 257 songs left. Going back to the White Stripes, they are one of the few bands that I have no problem listening to 50 or more songs in a row. Some other bands who I didn't get sick of listening to during this process:
The Mountain Goats
The Decemberists
Death Cab for Cutie
Tom Waits (although I did feel like cutting someone sadistically with a knife by the end)
Badly Drawn Boy
Rilo Kiley
Tilly and the Wall
Neutral Milk Hotel
Patty Griffin
Tori Amos
The Shins
Tanya Donnelly
Weezer

*Something in my office, throughout the whole floor really, smells bad. I fear that it is me, even though I know it's not. I can't count the number of times I've pulled my collar out and smelled myself to make sure I was okay. I'm a very cool guy.

*In my previous job I wrote captions about Socrates, Aristotle, Napoleon, Gandhi, and Shakespeare. In my current job, I am writing captions for Bula, Zeeter, Multo, Gorga, Wizzy, and Wigg from the Zula Patrol TV show. My life has changed a lot over the past six months.

*We still have our Christmas tree and decorations up. We'll take them down this week. We also still have our Christmas tree from last year on our fire escape. I have no idea when we'll get rid of that. To offer up a flimsy excuse, it is a potted tree that we put outside to live and grow. It died last February, but I still haven't moved it. It's so sad looking, all dried out and desiccated, but still tied to the escape ladder so it won't blow away.

*You can make the following words out of the letters in the word PRISM:
imp
imps
is
pi
prim
rip
rips
rim
rims
sip
sir

*I bought a box of sour Warheads the other day. They had a little "Sourness" rating chart on the back (which looked creepily like the Terror Alert chart) and had ranked this box of Warheads as "Extreme"--as high as the chart goes. I was very excited for the intense souricity that would come my way...but none did. It was weak. What happened to the days when Warheads, and other candies, were so sour and acidic that your tongue and roof of your mouth would bleed? Kids today are such pussies.

*In case you're all wondering what I'm still doing at work if I (clearly) have nothing to do and time to kill by writing this blog: I am meeting people for drinks after work at 6:30 and need something to do until then.

*I wonder what would happen if you pitted Jesus, Mohammed, Zeus, and Thor in an all-out battle royale? Every deity for himself. Who would win? I'm guessing that it would come down to Zeus and Thor. I don't know who I'd pick out of those two.

That's all for now. Off to get schnookered with some buds.

Well, since Jesus was a pacifist, and as far as I know Muhammed was only human, I too would think that it would go down to Zeus and Thor. I would go with Zeus, because, even though Thor is a Marvel Comics superhero, Zeus is the king of the Greek Gods, while Thor is the son of Odin, king of the Norse gods.
